X2Pro Audio Convert App Reviews

After having sent two feature length documentaries to audio post-production, I can say that this app meets the expectations we can have for this kind of workflow. Since last version, we can choose to reference or embed audio files, consolidate media with handles…etc. The file created is AAF, not OMF. In FCPX if you set a role for each audio channel, then audio engineer will retrieve named-tracks in ProTools based upon the roles names. Its way better than that we had in FCP7. Also good to know, support team is great, you can check the forum on their website for more.

Thanks for the great and free update! Works flawless with Protools and makes Final Cut Pro X usable, finally!

We are using it on a regular basis. I know it supposed to send wrapped audio file for Avid Pro Tool (AAF) but we use Steinberg Nuendo and it works perfectly. 10/10

Version 2.1.1 is working fine with last version of FCPX. It allows to extend easily professional sound design features into the FC workflow. With this plug in you can have a pro tools facilities into your video exporting audio track from the FC project. At the end of the work I simply mute all clips in FC and put in sync the new track and render. Last but not least I can use on the same time two workstations with two differents specialists.

I would like to acknowledge the fantastic support team at X2Pro. The software delivered as promised. We are finishing a feature length film in FCPX and waited for audio support from X2Pro to be able to use Pro Tools for sound design to complete the film. I came across a few errors in my first attempt. The support staff (Chris) was immediately responsive to help me troubleshoot the errors and resolve the issues. I was able to export the entire film to AAF file for finishing in Pro Tools, which worked great. I cant thank them enough.

I tested it out the other day and it worked great. I would *really* love it if they could introduce a way to add handles to bites so that the file size is smaller. Other than that, glad they made it.

Yes, I know it is clear in the description that ProTools is required … but I had hoped that the AFF output would be an actual AFF file … as in the *standard* that was developed for project interchange between platforms. But this is a ProTools specific file. Sad, because there would be a bigger market for moving FCP X projects to more accessable DAWs like Logic or Nuendo… though ProTools is *very* accessable these days! Update : TYhe devs responded imediately to this review. Thats a *great* sign … seems the AFF produced with this app does meets the standard, but there might be other issues at play for aleternate DAWs. However the devs seem willing to work to solve incompatibilites and I have high hopes. Update: Spent a bit of time today importing AAFs into ProTools 10. Worked well for my purposes. All the audio is there, in sync and editable. For FCP X users this is HUGE. Four stars for undertaking the project and making it work … Five for spreading the love to Loguc, Nuendo and betond… Update : the web site has a poll for additional DAW support! Good sign … I know if wont be that hard to implement basic exchange to Logic/Nuendo. Just have to save the AFF and Media as unembedded ie seperate. Devs … Please?

Will this still work if I update to FCPX 10.0.8? It worked with 10.0.7, but when I upgraded to 10.0.6 it wouldnt work until X2Pro was updated. Need to know before I can upgrade to 10.0.8.

I purchased this because my husband does audio and I do video. We thought this would be a great way for us to be able to work on projects together. The program did work once, but since that initial success, we have not been able to get it to effectively transfer files. I created a number of AAF files, testing different settings, but neither Nuendo 5, Nuendo 6 or Logic 9 could open them effectively. Sometimes they seemed to import and wave images flashed on screen but then were gone. Other times, the audio played backward. The developers web site did have troubleshooting information, nor did it have a way to create a trouble/support ticket - only a forum. This was an expensive way to waste time and become frustrated!

This great simple tool, let us keep our professional workflow & FCPX, communicating with external audio studios & ProTools. Nothing is flawless, but this software did a fantastic job on our big TV show on a major network. Thank you for a great mix.

I’ve used X2Pro on dozens of jobs over the past year to send Final Cut Pro X edited audio sequences to a Pro Tools audio workstation, and it works like a charm. The ability to use FCPX Roles to organize tracks has made me quite popular with the sound designer. I’ve been equally impressed with the software developers, who are very responsive to changes in workflow by quickly updating X2Pro to support new camera audio formats. Kudos all around for an elegant solution that just works.

This app just keeps getting better. If you use FCP X in a “pro” environment and need to send audio to ProTools (and quite a few other DAW’s) you *absolutely* need this. Indispensable. Your mixer will love you. :-)

When I ran the X2Pro to output and AAF file, I received error messages. When I investigated, I found this on X2Pro’s website: "X2Pro doesnt support retiming or conforming, and clips will be at the original speed in the AAF. This is likely to cause a sync issue…” Are you kidding me? Can I get a refund?
